**FOUNDER is the same as LAMINITIS, a disease of the hoof. This disease causes separation of the laminae, or white line in the hoof. Eventually, this will progress to weakness in the hoof, the coffin bone, a central support bone in the hoof, will rotate and in end stages, the bone will push right through the bottom of the hoof.
