ReStore is
a patented nutritional supplement unique within the equine
industry. It is a combination of specific enzymes with amino
acids, peptides and soluble nitrogen sources that have been
specially blended to improve the digestion and nutrient
utilization in horses of all ages. Controlled studies and use
in the field by individual horse owners have shown that horses
supplemented with ReStore experience
reduced bouts of colic, improved muscle and bone growth, and
improved recovery from training stress and non-infectious
weight loss.
Fermentation of feedstuffs by bacterial populations in the large bowel provide the horse with energy (in the form of volatile fatty acids), and structural nitrogen (in the form of amino acids and peptides) for growth, maintenance and reproduction. In the normal diet of the horse, the nitrogen reaching the large bowel for bacterial utilization is often insufficient in both quantity and quality to optimize bacterial growth and feed digestion. ReStore has been shown to overcome the insufficient amount by providing bacteria with the required quality of nitrogen sources in a controlled release form. This ensures a relatively constant availability of the high quality nitrogen sources required to optimize the bacterial digestion of feed. In addition, the enzyme components of ReStore help to link nitrogen and carbohydrate metabolism, to further enhance fermentation efficiency.
Due to the enhanced nutrient absorption and
utilization in horses fed ReStore, observed responses include
improved body condition in all classes of horses; increased
skeletal and muscular growth rate in young horses; control of
non-pathological diarrhea; and apparent protection from
chronic, non-pathological colic and related digestive
disturbances.
