Simple, easy to use
instructions!
The hoof strip is a very simple way to
help you and your vet take better care of your horse. Before
you apply your temperature strips to your horse, make sure
you've taken these steps to avoid a false reading. Take your
horse to a clean dry area to apply your hoof strips. The
temperature in your horse's hooves can change as much as 25
degrees, so the actual temperature of a healthy horse's
hooves can vary according to conditions in your area.
REMEMBER, the reading in all four hooves should be the same!
(plus or minus 5 degrees). DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EVALUATE IN
DIRECT SUNLIGHT, ICE, MUD or RAIN. Because the temperature
range of the strip is from 80 to 110 degrees, there will be
times where your strip will appear black without any
temperature reading. This is due to extreme cold or extreme
heat. This is normal. Remember uniform temperature is what
you want to see.
Directions:
STEP 1. Always start with a CLEAN, DRY
HOOF.
STEP 2. Sand hoof just below hairline
where the strip is to be applied. MAKE SURE THE HOOF IS
CLEAN AND FREE OF DEBRIS.
STEP 3. Take the alcohol swab and
thoroughly clean the area where you intend to apply the hoof
strip and let it dry for 15 seconds.
STEP 4. Peel off the back of the strip and
apply a thin line of glue gel to the back of the strip
(approx.1/16").
STEP 5. Apply strip to hoof starting at
the center of the strip, apply even pressure while pushing
toward the end of the strip. Press on strip from the center
out for 30 seconds.
It is very important that you follow these
directions carefully and DO NOT OVERGLUE! Read back of glue
tube and follow directions completely. KEEP THIS PRODUCT
