Emu
Oil: An Ancient Remedy for Today's Horse: For
the Aborigine people of Australia, staying alive in the
harsh outback requires an encyclopedic knowledge of the
dangers and treasures of the natural world. With thousands
of potent plant and animal resources at their command, why
has one bird—the emu—become the bedrock of the
Aborigines' diet, health care and culture? One part of the
answer is its delicious, low-cholesterol red meat. Another
is that practically every part of the emu is useful, from
leather to feathers and many things in-between. The unique
importance of the emu for health care, however, flows from
its amazing multi-purpose oil. Aborigines have used emu oil
to help heal wounds, burns, cuts, aches, infections, pains,
sore joints and many other problems. When Europeans arrived
in Australia, they found that there was no mythology to the
natives' use of emu oil, and soon no Aussie homestead was
complete without it.
Today,
Researchers are Putting Emu Oil Under the Scientific
Microscope: To date, the study of
emu oil for transdermal1,2 and anti-inflammatory3,4
properties indicate that the Aborigines were really on to
something. Researchers have also confirmed that emu oil is a
moisturizer par excellence5, working longer and
penetrating more deeply than standard moisturizing agents to
soothe and soften the skin. And it is non-comedogenic6
as it does not clog pores. In comparison with mineral oil,
100% of the subjects preferred emu oil5. The
potential for emu oil in the care and healing of burns has
also been reported7. It's little wonder that more
and more people are using and talking about emu oil these
days!
Why
is the Emu a Rich Source of Oil?
Like other birds, emus store fat to burn
for energy when food supplies are low. Although these large,
flightless birds are 80 million years old, their oil’s fatty
acid profile is remarkably similar to that of the skin of
modern mammals. This may be a reason for the excellent
penetrating qualities demonstrated by emu oil in clinical
trials., although much more remains to be discovered in the
search for science behind the secrets of emu oil. To ensure
maximum control over the quality of our emu oil, Vita Flex
Pure Emu Oil is made exclusively with American emu oil. The
flocks from which we harvest this premium oil are fed special
rations developed by a board-certified Ph.D. animal
nutritionist to optimize the consistency, purity and potency
of the oil. After harvesting, our emu oil is carefully
rendered to preserve its full potency and bioactivity. Then it
is blended into the state-of-the-art emu oil formulas, which
combine a variety of premium bioactive ingredients to optimize
emu oil’s benefits for specific horse health problems.
We’re sure you’ll agree—this is a topical solution that
works!
