It acts as a semi-solid casting material to partially immobilize and rest the affected area, reduce inflammation, diminish swelling, and "cool out" the damaged area. It provides continuous moist heat to the inflamed area, thus releasing tension and relieving pain. It also provides a moderate amount of compression to the affected area. Antiphlogistine also has an excellent "drawing effect" on abscesses, insect bites, and bee stings.
